asktheslendergirls asked: So, Dera, I see you're good friends with that cockbite Alexander. I'm giving you a chance to stay out of the crossfire when we go and kill him. I know you're still running or whatever, but none of us who are going after him are not going to care who gets caught in the middle, especially ones who help him. Got it?
…
I don’t want to die.
What else can I do but get a hunter to protect me?

I’m growing tired, Derora. I’m here to write down my stories before I leave. Who knows? Maybe someday they’ll help someone.
… You’re giving up?
No, but I know my time here will be short. I plan on using it well, but in the meanwhile, I’m preparing for my departure.
Alright… I’m sorry that it comes to this then.
I hope wherever you go is pleasant, my friend.
I hope wherever I go, I find rest.
Unlikely, but still a possibility.
I’m talking about myself too much. How are you? Have you gotten acquainted to the hellspawns yet?
I’ve had a conversation… well, more like argument.
I don’t know anything useful about them… sorry.
I’m mostly fine. Besides hearing things, anyway.

… So she made a deal with the devil, then? Worry not: As long as she’s not a proxy, I won’t go after her. Right now, I’m just glad to hear you’re fine. I’m surprised to find you here. I thought you were avoiding the online scene.
No. She got into a relationship with someone who the proxy can’t touch. He almost killed her, though. It decided to stop going after her, which I don’t get. I thought proxies were disposable… It might be a trap, I guess.
I changed my mind. There’s so much help to find and give here. And what about you? I didn’t think you’d ever touch a site like this.

Derora, it’s nice to know you’re still alive.
How is Cassie?
The same to you, my friend. It’s been a long time.
I don’t speak to her much anymore. She abandoned me, so why should I? She’s an ex-runner now.
Wait, that might have sounded wrong. She’s not a proxy or anything. She’s just not being stalked anymore.

… We can live without religion and meditation …
…
But we cannot survive without human affection.
Oh my god.

Cassie hadn’t really been sure what to do. Liu had just… changed. He didn’t recognize her, didn’t recognize Jeff, and he looked normal. No scars, no odd colored skin, just normal Liu. His hair was longer too.
Ever since Jeff had explained things to him, he had seemed depressed. She hadn’t realized why for a bit, but once she figured out she began devising a way to help him, or at least make him feel better until he went back to normal.
“Hey…Liu, can I talk to you for a little bit?”
Liu looked up from his laptop, adjust his glasses without thought as he looked toward Cassie.
From what Jeff had told him, the girl was supposed to be his girlfriend and he had done a lot of things just to protect her, though they hadn’t spoken much since he ‘first’ saw her.
“Yes?” He asked, trying to be polite.
After all, from what he’d heard, she was a good girl who wouldn’t hurt a thing, and he had spied her with her bible once or twice. He could imagine himself with a girl like that. At least he had apparently done SOMETHING right…
The girl actually had her bible with her. It was a small pocket one, though it still had a hardcover. She had gotten used to carrying those around since they were the best for throwing. Sure, she didn’t really have to do that anymore, but it had become habit.
“I just wanted to talk. I know you’ve been upset, but I wanted to tell you something that might make you feel better.” She hesitantly walked over and sat next to him. “If you’ll listen, that is.” It was so odd that he didn’t know her. She couldn’t wait for it to be over, but until then she could do her best to make him feel better, right?
